Kibbutz Lotan is a Reform kibbutz in Southern Israel. Located in the Aravah Valley in the NEgev desert, it falls under the jurisdiction of the Hevel Eilot Regional Council.
The kibbutz was founded in 1983 by idealistic Israeli and American youths who together built a profit sharing community based on pluralistic, egalitarian and creative Jewish values while protecting the environment.
Today, with more than 100 members, Kibbutz Lotan pioneers the engagement of Judaism and Zionism with ecological sustainability, linking the spirit and the earth, educating individuals to love and protect the environment, and connecting them to their Jewish heritage while adapting tradition to contemporary lifestyles. It is a tight knit and pluralistic community where individuals and families can express their Jewish commitment in manners meaningful to them.
